Teaching history to students is important for many reasons; it fosters identity, improves judgment and helps with decision-making. Texas history, in particular, is especially important to students native to Texas because it offers personal connections to Texas culture and promotes a deeper understanding of where we come from and how we got here. For children in general, learning about the history of Texas teaches about pride, citizenship, while it communicates sacrifices made for freedoms and beliefs specific to Texas. More importantly, learning about history opens a unique understanding into who we are, who we want to become, and how to grow from that understanding.
This blog is meant to communicate the unique qualities about the State of Texas and serve to fulfill state standards in curriculum, as well as to promote an appreciation and understanding relating to Texas history.
